A young Teutonic aristocrat, she journeyed to Japan to take part in the Holy Grail War as a Master. Illyasviel boasts an angelic appearance and unparalleled magical prowess. She resides in a castle on the outskirts of Fuyuki City, accompanied solely by her Servant and two maids. Those whom she feels comfortable around are invited to call her simply "Illya."
In Fate/stay night, her Servant, Berserker, is none other than the legendary Greek hero Heracles. This, coupled with her noble upbringing, imbues her with a certain arrogance, particularly during combat. Early in the Grail War, she forms a bond with Shirou, referring to him as "Big Brother" and proposing that he serve her in exchange for sparing his life. After Berserker's defeat at the hands of Saber and Shirou, Illya moves in with Shirou at his home. Taiga assumes a big sister role for Illya, looking after her whenever Shirou is away, even after the conclusion of the Grail War.
In Fate/Zero, it is revealed that Kiritsugu Emiya is Illyasviel's father. At the age of 8, she plays a crucial role in the backstory leading up to the events of Fate/stay night.
