seishuu

Seishuu is a young boy suffering from deteriorating eyesight who ends up traveling with Suzu. He lost both of his parents to youma. Originally from Kei, Seishuu's family decided to leave when Jokaku ordered the exile of all women in the kingdom. Tragically, his father was killed by a youma, devoured right before Seishuu's eyes, while Seishuu sustained a concussion at the back of his head. This injury worsened over time, causing seizures and progressively worsening eyesight. Seishuu and his mother eventually reached Sou and then Sai, but his mother succumbed to illness before they could return to Kei. When a new ruler ascended the throne of Kei, Seishuu chose to return and met Suzu, who was traveling to Kei by boat. Initially, they did not get along; Seishuu openly criticized Suzu for not making efforts to change her difficult life but only lamenting her misfortune. However, they gradually grew on each other and became friends. During their journey, it became clear that Seishuu's health was failing. Suzu became convinced they must go to Gyouten to meet the monarch of Kei, believing the monarch could heal Seishuu. However, they were separated in Shisui Prefecture in Wa Province, where Seishuu was deliberately run over by the carriage of the prefecture's praetor, Shoukou, for collapsing in its path.
