When Heliopolis is attacked, he escapes the destruction along with Kira and their other friends aboard the Earth Alliance warship Archangel. Despite learning that Kira is a Coordinator, Sai remains supportive and volunteers to help on the ship’s bridge. He is assigned to the Archangel’s Combat Information Center as an electronic warfare specialist.
