After witnessing her father’s ship explode before her eyes, she becomes mentally unstable and manipulates Kira sexually to exact revenge for her father's death. Although engaged to Sai through an arranged marriage by their parents, she breaks off the relationship to be with Kira, taking advantage of his emotional vulnerability and feelings for her.
Her hatred towards Coordinators dissipates after experiencing life aboard a ZAFT ship, and she no longer seeks vengeance.
In Kira’s absence, she realizes her true love for him. Overwhelmed with guilt over her past actions, she desperately wants to talk to everyone, especially Kira, to apologize. However, her attempt fails when her shuttle is shot down by the Providence.
As Kira cries in agony upon witnessing her death, though he cannot see or hear her, her spirit hovers beside him, comforting him. She apologizes and explains that her suffering had blinded her from reality, but now she is free. Her final words are, "My true feelings will protect you."
