Rosé hails from the city of Lior, located in a remote region of the East. She was a devoted follower of Cornello's teachings, believing he could use his powers to bring her deceased boyfriend, Kain, back to life. Instead, Cornello created a talking parrot chimera mimicking Kain's voice. Upon discovering this deception, Cornello locked Rosé in a room with the chimera, using an incomplete Philosopher's Stone to make it attack her. Alphonse saved her, and together with Edward, they exposed Cornello's fraud. In the 2003 anime: After Cornello's plan is revealed and her hopes are shattered, Rosé must start anew and endure difficult times. When the military intervenes in Lior, she is imprisoned. Later, she appears free and has a child. It is implied that she may have been raped while in military custody. Scar uses her as a symbol of hope for Lior, referring to her as the Holy Mother. Seeing Edward paralyzed by Sloth, Rosé regains her voice and uses Edward's words to snap him out of his trance. She becomes targeted by Dante as the next vessel for the new Philosopher's Stone. Dante hypnotizes Rosé, and her baby is used to open the Gate. While kept with Dante in an underground city, Edward finds her dancing alone under the trance. During their dance, Rosé tells Edward she had been waiting for him and expresses her love for him. Edward blushes and pushes her away, questioning if she knows what she is saying and reminding her they are "just friends." It remains unclear whether she said it under Dante's influence or genuinely loves him. Edward's death breaks her trance. At the end of the anime, Rosé and her child seem to have moved to Risembool, living happily with Winry and Pinako. In the 2009 anime: Taking Edward's words to heart, Rosé helps rebuild Lior and eventually reunites with Alphonse Elric. She admits to missing Ed and wishes to see him again, causing Winry to feel slightly jealous—a fact Alphonse teases her about.
