A competitor in the 21st Martial Arts Tournament uses her appearance as a "defenseless" woman to her advantage. For instance, she screams when someone is about to strike her, causing them to hesitate, and in that moment, she delivers a powerful punch or kick. If this tactic fails, she resorts to stripping to shock or embarrass her opponent. Namu manages to defeat her only by closing his eyes and attacking without looking at her body.
In the manga, her image briefly appears on one of the rosters as one of the targets of Tambourine's mission to eliminate martial artists during the King Piccolo Saga. It remains unclear if Ran Fuan was killed, but since she does not appear again in either the manga or anime after the tournament, it is likely that Tambourine was stopped before he could kill her.
In the U.S. dub, the stripping scene was omitted. Instead, a failed attack by Namu is shown, followed by her twitching foot to indicate she has been knocked out. Interestingly, this edit is not applied in recaps, which still display her in her underwear. The names Ran and Fuan are Japanese for "Lingerie" and "Foundation garments," respectively.
