rakushun
Rakushun is a hanjyuu who takes the form of a rat. Although Youko is initially wary of him, he becomes her first true friend after she is transported from Japan. Rakushun manages to teach Youko essential skills for surviving in this new world. He is proud of his identity as a hanjyuu and feels somewhat uneasy in his human form; it takes Youko quite some time to discover that he can appear as a human. Rakushun is highly intelligent and knowledgeable, and he is enrolled at the Daigaku of En. Youko wishes for him to teach her about the politics and customs of this new world.
