Pururu appears in the series as the most recent and only female member of the Garuru Platoon. She serves as a chief medic and expert nurse and is a childhood friend to Sergeant Keroro, Corporal Giroro, and Lance Corporal Dororo. Her personality is energetic, down-to-earth, somewhat strict, and stubborn, but she is also nonviolent and mature compared to most other major characters in the series. Pururu has violet skin, a pink cap with a yellow-and-pink heart symbol, and large purple eyes. In her youth, her cap was flat with a light pink flower, but now it points up on both sides, giving the impression of cat ears. Occasionally, she is depicted wearing a violet afro wig. Despite her tadpole appearance, which might suggest she is as young as Tamama or Tororo, this seems to be how Mine Yoshizaki depicts adult females. Her cute looks and charming demeanor make her endearing to everyone, especially the young Giroro and current Keroro.
Pururu reappears in episode 157, coming to Earth to give the Keroro Platoon checkups and staying for a few more episodes, though her appearances are limited. Episode 162 explains how she started her career as a nurse; during a plot to retrieve a secret base from Keronian bullies, the tadpole versions of Keroro, Giroro, Dororo, and Pururu teamed up. Disguised as a bee, Pururu attacked the chief bully with a needle, enjoying the experience. As an adult nurse, her weapon of choice is a large light-pink ball-point syringe similar to the needle she used as a child.
Her most current relationship is with Keroro, who now has a crush on his childhood friend. However, Pururu feels more like a sibling towards him, Giroro, and Dororo, seeing them as childish as they were when they were tadpoles. Giroro once had a crush on her when they were young but now harbors stronger feelings for Natsumi.
Pururu became friends with Chiruyo Tsukigami, a member of the Newspaper Club at Fuyuki's school, while trying to help her get closer to Fuyuki. She realized that Chiruyo had feelings for Fuyuki.
