Oda Nobunaga, known as Dai Rokuten Maou, aimed to conquer the world. With the assistance of his Juunishinshou, he was working towards this goal until he was killed by the young Kyo at Honnoji Temple, years before the Battle of Sekigahara. Given his significance to the Mibu Clan's plans, they resurrected him in Lord Torii's body, Benitora's uncle. Kyoshiro provided Lord Torii's body to the Mibu, who implanted Oda Nobunaga's soul into it. Kyo defeated Nobunaga at the Battle of Sekigahara. Nobunaga was resurrected again and later confronted Kyo in Aokigahara Forest. During their encounter, Benitora knocked Nobunaga off his horse, leading to a fight that ended with Nobunaga's death in the anime. In the manga, Yukimura asked Kyo to spare the wounded Nobunaga, but Kyo ultimately kills him in their next battle. Shindara took Nobunaga's head to the Mibu, who then resurrected him in Shiina Nozomu's body, allowing Nobunaga access to Nozomu's memories and powers. Nobunaga fought Kyo for the fourth time, reviving defeated Juunishinshou members using Nozomu's shamanic abilities. He was defeated once more, revealing that like others, he sought strength, fearlessness, and his own path in a supposedly peaceful world under his control. The manga suggests Nobunaga's fascination with Kyo stemmed from his fearless eyes and how Kyo inspired him to strive for greatness. Nobunaga vowed to return to defeat Kyo, which Kyo accepted as a challenge.
In the anime, the storyline involving Shiina Nozomu is omitted. Instead, Nobunaga's sister, Shatora, leader of the Juunishinshou, takes Nozomu's place. She resurrects her brother first into Lord Torii's body, then into Kyo's body. Nobunaga's character is portrayed simply as someone driven insane with the sole desire to take over the world.
