A prodigy novelist since her high school years, she is commonly known as "sensei." Originally introduced in the Read or Die manga as a teenage friend of the older Yomiko, she often finds herself frustrated with Yomiko's obsession with books and later with the Paper Sisters when they move into her home. She leaves post-it notes to remind Yomiko of her absentmindedness. Due to Yomiko's disappearance, she has become highly self-reliant but occasionally feels wistful and bitter. Despite her parents' wishes, she stayed in Japan to manage Yomiko's household and personal belongings, awaiting her (presumed) return. Along with two other characters in the series, many fans believe Nenene's dedication to Yomiko hints at romantic feelings, leading to a strong yuri fanbase for the series.
