Ryoki's mother is the undisputed "queen" of the company housing complex. She takes great pleasure in manipulating the lives of those beneath her, spreading malicious rumors and relocating workers based on their family's reputation. Multiple times she has attempted to separate Hatsumi and Ryoki, viewing Hatsumi as unsuitable and undeserving of her son. Natsue's obsession with controlling the people in the complex likely stems from her lack of control within her own family. Ryoki never listens to a word she says and dismisses her concerns without emotion, while Shuichiro, during his rare appearances, easily undermines her at every turn. Natsue and Shuichiro are in an arranged marriage, as dictated by their parents' wishes.
