Mu La Flaga plays a significant role in Gundam SEED. As the lieutenant of the Archangel after his original ship is destroyed, he pilots the Moebius Zero. Mu develops a close relationship with Captain Murrue Ramius and encourages Kira through tough times. Initially, Mu piloted the Skygrasper before moving to the Strike Gundam.
Tragically, he dies protecting the Archangel from the Dominion's Lohengrin cannon while piloting the Strike Gundam.
Mu earned the title "Hawk of Endymion" by single-handedly shooting down five ZAFT mobile suits in an early battle. Despite losing his initial group during the Heliopolis invasion, he joined the Archangel, where he met Murrue and Kira Yamato. Although he holds the rank of lieutenant, he has minimal experience with military law. His father, Al Da Flaga, favored his clone son, Rau Le Creuset, over Mu, whom he considered a godforsaken child. Mu shares a unique connection with Rau, sensing his presence.
Mu's personality is eccentric but endearing. He brings confidence and humor to the Archangel, often making light-hearted remarks to lift spirits. Even when injured, he fights fiercely for the Archangel. His carefree nature sometimes leads to awkward situations, such as when he patted Murrue on the back, leading her to accuse him of sexual harassment.
In combat, Mu excels with the Moebius Zero and later with the Strike Gundam, which Kira configured for Natural use. His primary role is to protect and support the Archangel.
In Gundam SEED Destiny, Mu initially appears as Neo Roanoke, the Earth Alliance Military Commander of the Girty Lue, taking orders directly from Lord Djibril. Like Rau Le Creuset, Neo wears a mask and shares a mysterious connection with Rey Za Burrel. He pilots the Exass in space and the Windam on Earth.
Neo uses manipulative tactics, such as deceiving Stellar Loussier to keep her under control. Over time, his personality begins to resemble Mu’s, even quoting him with phrases like, "I can make the impossible possible."
In space, Neo excels with speed and skill piloting the Exass, though he struggles against Rey. On Earth, he performs well with the Windam, employing innovative offensive tactics.
After ZAFT invades Orb to find Lord Djibril, Neo pilots the ORB-01 Akatsuki and joins the Archangel. In the final battle of Messiah, Mu's memories return, and he protects the Archangel from the Minerva's Tannhauser using the Akatsuki Gundam, mirroring his sacrifice in SEED.
