Miyu is an independent, strong-willed, and very kind classmate of Ran and one of her closest friends. However, beneath her charming and sweet exterior lies a troubled past. When she was in third grade, her parents got divorced, and her father later remarried. Miyu lived with her mother, who was more focused on finding a new partner than caring for Miyu. In fact, Miyu's presence reminded her mother of her ex-husband, which led to resentment towards Miyu.
At one point, Miyu was the leader of a street gang known as the "Resistance," causing chaos and disruption during her middle school years. She had a rough and intimidating personality that Ran found distasteful. One day, Yamato, then a rookie cop, rescued her from a dangerous situation. His dedication to helping Miyu with her issues made her fall in love with him. As a result, she left her criminal life behind and transformed into a much more polite person after Yamato expressed his wish for her to change for the better. This change also led to her becoming great friends with Ran. However, Miyu can still revert to her aggressive self when someone deeply upsets her or when she becomes unusually angry.
In conversations, Miyu has a habit of referring to herself in the third person, a trait common among cute characters. Ran often teases her about being "lovey-dovey" with her older brother, and there's a recurring joke in both series where they are interrupted while trying to kiss, usually by Ran.
