Mami is known as the top Gyaru of Ikebukuro, earning the title "Queen of Ikebukuro." She views Ran as her rival and occasionally feels jealous of her. Whenever she's filled with jealousy, Mami tends to challenge Ran, leading to competitions between the two. In the anime, she leads a double life as a debutante while also being a Gyaru.

As the series progresses, Mami falls in love with Yuya, and they become a couple. She also forms a truce with Ran in Volume 5 of GALS!, embracing the idea that "it's okay to have a change of heart."
