Mitsuiro is the current head of the Shōjō Family, one of the Red Feather Families under the Takayanagi Family Flying Phoenix. She is the 17th person to hold this position. Named after her ancestor from Feudal Japan, Tokuan Shōjō, she aims to continue his legacy. Despite her role and surname, Mitsuiro belongs to a branch of the Shōjō Family. Since Sōhaku Kago took over Tokuan's body, the original Shōjō bloodline ended. Her family, relatively weak, has used inter-family marriages to regain strength comparable to the main Shōjō Family.
Mitsuiro is one of three female characters in Tenjho Tenge with a small chest, alongside Madoka Mawari and Raika Rotsukaku. She has a distinctive tattoo or pattern that extends across the left side of her face to the other side of her nose. She is in love with Hirohiko Myouun Kabane, and they share the common goal of continuing their ancestors' work. Unfortunately, due to her family tradition, she must marry within the family, preventing her from marrying Hirohiko. She dislikes being called by her last name and even threatened to slap Hirohiko for using it.
