Bob Makihara is a young man from South Africa, often referred to as "the foreigner" in the series. Despite his heritage, he has blue eyes and is known for his long dreadlocks and muscular physique, making him one of the strongest characters in the series. Little is known about his past, except that his father was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He met Souichiro Nagi during the second semester of his third year in elementary school, and they formed a duo called the Knuckle Bombs. His girlfriend's name is Chiaki, and they appear to be deeply in love.
Souichiro is Bob's best friend, and he also respects Masataka. Bob enjoys fighting and is highly skilled at it. He has better powers of perception than Souichiro, quickly noticing something different about Toudou Academy and recognizing that someone stronger than Masataka Takayanagi and Maya Natsume is around.
Bob often doubts his abilities and Maya's training, especially due to the attention he receives from Mitsuomi Takayanagi. Although Mitsuomi offers to train him and make him the "sharpest blade in the school," Chiaki convinces Bob to stay with the Juken club. Later, he regrets this decision when he still needs to be saved by Masataka despite all the training he received from Maya. Despite his doubts, Bob remains loyal to the Juken club.
