Mihoshi Kuramitsu is a Galaxy Police detective in the fictional Tenchi Muyo! anime and manga series. Her given name "Mihoshi" translates to "Beautiful Star" and originates from a town in Okayama Prefecture once called Bisei.
In the Original Video Animation (OVA), Mihoshi is a Seniwan and part of the influential Kuramitsu family, whose power ranks just below that of the Jurai Royal Family.
Mihoshi is recognized as one of the best officers in the Galaxy Police, but her career faced a significant setback after an incident hinted at in the fourth episode of the first OVA and the fourth episode of the third OVA. This incident reportedly involved an arranged marriage that later played a role in Misao's attack in the series. The True Tenchi novels reveal that Mihoshi fell in love with her intended spouse, who then left her heartbroken. She attempted suicide but was revived by the Kuramitsu family, resulting in her current incompetence and near invulnerability.
Mihoshi is actually the great-great-granddaughter of Washu through her son Mikumo, although this fact is mentioned outside the series itself. Her grandfather, Minami Kuramitsu, holds the title of Grand Marshall of the Galaxy Police. Mihoshi's mother Mitoto also works for the Galaxy Police as a cleaning lady. Mihoshi has a younger brother named Misao, who married Mashisu Makibi. Whether her connection to one of the 11-dimensional Chousin goddesses signifies another transcendental anomaly in the series remains unconfirmed. However, it is notable that her mother Mitoto has the subconscious ability to travel vast interstellar distances. Whether she shares her daughter's talent for bending causality is unknown, but Minami, Mikami, and Misao apparently do not.
Despite her tendencies to eat and sleep frequently, Mihoshi takes her job at the Galaxy Police very seriously. She doesn't mind helping with household chores and appears more adept at them than Ryoko or Ayeka. Mihoshi is known for writing extensive and unstructured reports filled with details, which can sometimes confuse her superiors. For instance, her report on the Kagato incident included detailed information about the Jurai royal trees, making it TOP SECRET with Jurai Intelligence (Funaho Jurai once admitted to Washu that it took Jurai Intelligence four days to summarize the report). A duplicate report, excluding the sensitive information, was submitted instead.
