Marcel, the proprietor of the Banana Slakoth Garden, faced a significant challenge when Ash and his friends arrived. The garden had been shut down because a Snorlax had consumed all the bananas within it. Complicating matters further, any Pokémon that attempted to confront this Snorlax would be put to sleep by its Yawn move.
On the brink of surrender, Marcel received a suggestion from Brock. He proposed capturing a Slakoth from the garden and evolving it into a Vigoroth, reasoning that Vigoroth's Vital Spirit ability would protect it from falling asleep.
Following Brock's advice, Marcel captured a Slakoth. After engaging in battles with Ash's Pikachu, Torkoal, and Grovyle, the Slakoth evolved. With this newly evolved Wild Monkey Pokémon, Marcel managed to battle and successfully capture the troublesome Snorlax.
Upon reopening the park, Marcel shared an innovative idea inspired by Snorlax. One of the rooms was designated for visitors to rest if they felt tired, and Marcel's recently captured Snorlax helped them drift off to sleep using its Yawn move.
Ash and his companions said their goodbyes to Marcel before continuing their journey to Lilycove City.
