Arbok is a serpentine Pokémon that resembles a cobra. It has narrow eyes and several sharp teeth. Just below its head is a large hood adorned with a face-like pattern, which can vary in over 20 different ways. This pattern typically features two red and yellow eyespots outlined in black, a wide black streak resembling an upturned mouth, and a black V-shaped stripe above the eyespots.
Arbok's strength lies in its ability to crush opponents by coiling around them tightly, even flattening steel oil drums. When facing an enemy, it raises its head and uses the intimidating pattern on its body to stun and frighten its opponent. It can also produce eerie sounds by expelling air from its mouth. Interestingly, if any part of Arbok’s body except for the head is severed, it can regenerate the lost portion within a few weeks. Additionally, it can detect vibrations and survive underwater for extended periods.
In certain instances, an Arbok might change its pattern to boost its stats or gain immunity to status conditions, although this remains speculative. Known for its territorial nature, Arbok aggressively attacks intruders using its venomous fangs. Once it locks onto a target, it won’t give up the chase, regardless of distance. It prefers habitats like grassy savannas and plains but can also be found in forests and wastelands alongside Ekans, its pre-evolved form. In the wild, it hunts smaller Pokémon such as Wooper, and also consumes Pidgey and Spearow eggs. Its hunting technique involves immobilizing prey with its hood pattern before constricting and poisoning them.
In Generation I, Glare was Arbok’s signature move. Arbok evolves from Ekans.
