Margery is a tall, well-endowed, and mature blonde Flame Haze with a penchant for drinking. She wields the Grimoire, a divine vessel through which Marchosias, her bonded entity, communicates his will. Her primary abilities revolve around chanting spells and transforming into a werewolf. She casts spells by reciting an "Improvisational Poem of Slaughter." Eita and Keisaku admire her because she once saved their lives.
Her motivation for becoming a Flame Haze stems from a desire for vengeance against a Denizen with a silver flame (who has some connection to the Reiji Maigo within Yuuji). Even before becoming a Flame Haze, her life was dedicated solely to revenge. In medieval times, she was the daughter of a landlord but faced numerous betrayals that led to her father's death and her eventual placement in a brothel. After gaining the chance to avenge her suffering and humiliation, she saw her enemies destroyed by the Silver. Her rage over losing her final reason to live caught the attention of Marchosias. In the anime, Margery shifts her focus from simply eradicating Crimson Denizens to protecting the Balance, noting that her combat skills remain unchanged.
In the light novels, Margery not only faces the Silver in an unsuccessful battle but later realizes that the Silver had been acting on her wish for revenge during her miserable life before becoming a Flame Haze. This realization occurs just before she nearly gets killed by Snake of the Festival Sakai Yuuji. Margery eventually finds new purpose when Keisaku kisses her and confesses his love, giving her a renewed sense of direction. She reciprocates by kissing Keisaku back.
