Lyon is a former student of Ur. Like Gray, Ur trained him in ice magic when he was a child. Since meeting Ur, he aspired to surpass her at all costs, secretly reading her magic books to learn more powerful spells than what she taught him. After Ur sacrificed herself to save Gray from Deliora by encasing it in ice, Lyon blamed Gray for robbing him of his chance to surpass her.
Lyon performs his ice magic with one hand, which is faster but less reliable compared to Gray's two-hand technique. Unlike Gray's static ice creations, Lyon's ice takes the form of animals that can move around after being created.
He has a crush on Juvia.
Later, he returns as a member of Lamia Scale, along with Sherry and Rock-Iron Jura, to assist their alliance in defeating the Oracion Six. He also alters his magic style to use both hands during his fight with Gray and Racer.
The childhood Lyon is voiced by Sayaka Narita in Japanese and by Leah Clark in English.
