In some illustrations, Gray's necklace bears a striking resemblance to the Rave Stone from another of Mashima's works, "Rave Master." However, Mashima admits he can't recall the name. The habit of removing his clothes stems from his training under Ul, who encouraged it as part of his lessons, turning it into an ingrained behavior.
