Lugia is a large Pokémon that bears resemblance to a dragon, plesiosaur, and bird. Predominantly silver-white in color, it features blue undersides with slight tonal variations. Its beak-like mouth has ridges and contains pointed teeth on the lower jaw. Lugia's head sports a rearward point, and its eyes are adorned with sharp blue or black spikes. It possesses a long, slender neck and a sleek, streamlined body. Dark blue or black plate-like protrusions extend along its back, with two smaller, more pointed ones at the tail's end. These plates can fold back to boost speed. Covered in protective scales, Lugia also boasts large wings resembling hands. Despite being of unknown gender, young Lugia have been observed, suggesting breeding populations exist. Lugia is fiercely protective of its offspring.
As the leader of the legendary birds, Lugia alone can quell their territorial disputes, as seen in the second Pokémon movie. Like the birds, it controls weather, notably calming and inciting storms. A mere flap of its wings can generate winds strong enough to destroy a house, while full flaps could hypothetically cause storms lasting up to 40 days. Highly intelligent, Lugia isolates itself deep underwater to prevent accidental devastation, often sleeping alone. Rarely seen, Lugia is known as the guardian of the seas. Rumors suggest it appears during stormy nights. Lugia enjoys treats made by Snacksworth, who once encountered it.
Forms
Lugia has an alternate form named Shadow Lugia. This variant has jagged silver eye-spikes, a dark purple body with white undersides, and glowing red eyes. Its toes are sharper, claw-like, and its tongue longer and more pointed. Additionally, due to changes in Lugia’s back plate designs after Generation IV, Shadow Lugia now has a unique appearance for these plates.
