Birthday: November 1, 1978
Although her name is often transliterated as "Reira," her actual name is "Layla," named after Eric Clapton's famous song. She is half-American, half-Japanese, and serves as the lead singer of Trapnest. Additionally, she has written some of their songs.
Layla's bond with her bandmates dates back to her elementary school days, starting with Takumi Ichinose. The two met when Layla and her mother moved to Japan. Due to her limited Japanese skills at the time, she faced criticism from neighbors. Takumi was asked to befriend her, and they remained close throughout their childhood, teaching each other their native languages—Layla learned more about Japanese, while Takumi improved his English.
From a young age, Layla showed a keen interest in singing, notably through her rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time." During one of her early performances of this song, she confessed her love to Takumi and unexpectedly kissed him. When he reacted uncomfortably, Layla explained that she often kissed people she respected or admired, such as her parents or teachers in America. Takumi reluctantly agreed it was fine for her to kiss or hold hands with him, but only when they were alone.
Their friendship stayed strong until middle school, when Layla kissed him again after he called her cute. This time, Takumi admitted they were growing up and suggested she should only do those things with a boyfriend. Layla immediately asked him to take that role, but Takumi coldly rejected her, stating he already had a girlfriend. He then advised her to find a nice boy herself, which upset her.
Between junior high and high school, Layla befriended Naoki Fujieda and Yasushi Takagi, who was then part of the band Brute with Ren Honjou. Frustrated by Takumi treating their relationship like siblings, Layla began dating Yasu to cope with her unrequited feelings. Their relationship didn't last but provided a distraction from her pain.
In Trapnest, Layla occasionally showed interest in both Takumi and Ren, causing tension with Nana Osaki. To make matters worse, the tabloid magazine SEARCH sent Nana photos of Ren and Layla together, though the pictures were innocent. To prevent the photos from being published, Takumi revealed his relationship with Hachi, who initially suspected Layla as well.
During Trapnest's peak popularity, Layla visited a nightclub to find an escort for the night and met Shinichi Okazaki, Blast's bassist. After spending a night together, they continued meeting. Eventually, they decided their relationship was more than just client and prostitute, and Shin requested she no longer pay him. When Takumi discovered their relationship, he warned them about potential consequences. Layla initially dismissed his concerns but later realized the danger, especially after the media captured her and Ren together. She reluctantly ended things with Shin, regretted it, and begged for forgiveness, possibly repairing their relationship. However, Shin, still wary of Takumi's warning, refused.
In recent chapters, Layla gave Valentine's chocolates to Takumi and tearfully told him she was tired of forcing herself. Takumi stated she was more important to him than anyone and asked if she was sure she only wanted to be one of his many lovers, knowing they couldn't have a real relationship. She accepted, and they shared a passionate kiss but were soon interrupted. Takumi quickly left, catching Ren's attention, who checked on Layla. They were last seen walking out together, Layla wiping her eyes. However, Takumi remains unsettled about their relationship, leaving its future uncertain.
