King Vegeta, the king of the Saiyans, is referenced multiple times throughout the manga but only appears in filler episodes and movies. He was believed to be the strongest Saiyan until it was revealed that his own son, also named Vegeta, had surpassed him. Before Planet Vegeta was attacked, King Vegeta realized Freeza feared the Saiyans and planned an assault against him. However, according to anime filler, his attempt failed as he was easily killed by Freeza, who also defeated the elite Saiyans who followed him. In the movie "Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan," King Vegeta ordered the execution of both Broly and his father Paragus due to his fear of Broly's extraordinary power.

King Vegeta is depicted in the anime special, the film "Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan," and some original scenes in the anime series. While his appearance is never shown or described in the manga, he is briefly mentioned in dialogue between Freeza and Vegeta in the original manga.
