King Bradley serves as the Führer of the Amestris state military, commanding all state alchemists directly. Despite his authoritative role, he often exhibits a calm and kind demeanor, even when issuing battle orders. This characteristic frequently confuses his subordinates, with Roy Mustang admitting that he can't understand Bradley's true nature.
Besides his leadership, King Bradley possesses the Homunculus ability known as "The Ultimate Eye," enabling him to foresee the outcome of any situation and react accordingly. His eye can detect transmutations in real-time and disrupt them using his saber. Additionally, his inhumane swordsmanship allows him to defeat formidable opponents like tanks, soldiers, Greed, Scar, Ling, Isaac, Buccaneer, Fu, and many others. Although he claims that age has diminished his agility and power, his youthful strength was said to be even more formidable.
In the 2003 anime series, Bradley is depicted as the country's president, characterized by his carefree attitude and sharp mind. He ended the Ishval Civil War by deploying State Alchemists. It is revealed that he is the Homunculus Pride, created by Dante as the fourth Homunculus. Despite his immense power, he remained loyal to Dante, possibly due to his unwavering loyalty. He appointed Edward Elric as the Fullmetal Alchemist and secretly employed Sloth as his secretary under the alias Juliet Douglas.
In the manga and 2009 anime series, Bradley displays an odd sense of humor and engages in peculiar behaviors for someone of his status. Examples include joking with his subordinates, dressing up as a tourist while visiting Dublith, giving watermelons as gifts, skipping work to visit the Elric brothers in the hospital, and jumping out of windows to evade attendants.
Different from the first series, Bradley is identified as the Homunculus Wrath in the manga and 2009 anime. He was part of a secret program by Father and the Amestrian military to find the perfect ruler. After surviving the process involving a Philosopher's Stone, he became the first aging Homunculus and assumed the name King Bradley. Unlike other Homunculi, he lacks the ability to regenerate and heal himself but quickly rose to power through his battle skills and dedication to military ideals.
Bradley also holds contempt for the concept of loyalty or sacrificing oneself for others, believing only the strong should survive and that one life lost must be balanced by another life lost.
