The eldest of the five Generals, Yeegar is a hero who places himself on the front lines during the initial battles. Known for his strictness regarding manners and speech, he is also described by Komui and others as a very kind individual. In the anime, he expresses disappointment for not reaching Belgium in time to recover the Innocence, resulting in one casualty. He enjoys cooking, which is evident when he happily prepared more food for Allen Walker after the latter enthusiastically consumed much of the meal Yeegar had prepared for himself, Allen, and the Finders.
Yeegar becomes the first General targeted by the Noah, suffering defeat at the hands of Tyki Mikk, who mutilates him and crucifies him backwards on a cross, also stealing and destroying his Innocence. Following the fight, Yeegar's mind deteriorates, and he rambles about "the Heart" (the core of all Innocence) and how the Earl seeks it; he dies shortly thereafter due to his injuries. During the attack by Tyki Mikk and Road Kamelot, Yeegar ensures the safety of his Finders by creating an opening for them to escape.
In the manga, readers do not learn about Yeegar until Komui informs Allen, Lavi, and Lenalee of his death, with limited information provided. He was carrying seven pieces of Innocence along with his own, all of which were destroyed by the Millennium Earl. In the anime, Yeegar's anti-Akuma weapon consists of chained pendulums that can split into multiple units, enabling him to engage multiple Akuma simultaneously.
According to the anime, Yeegar worked as a teacher before becoming an Exorcist. When one of his students died, her friend turned her into an Akuma that killed all of her classmates. This Akuma was later destroyed by an Exorcist using a bow as an anti-Akuma weapon. The Exorcist informed Yeegar about the Black Order, leading him to become an Exorcist and eventually a General.
