Miki's father is an accountant who works at a bank. He married Miki's mother, Rumi, after ending his relationship with his former girlfriend, Chiyako, and helping Rumi recover from her breakup with her boyfriend, Youji. They moved to England, where Miki was born, before returning to Japan. Later on, he and Rumi meet Chiyako and Youji again, come to an understanding, and decide to swap spouses.
