Ivan is a baby originally from Russia, born with a severe illness. His father, Gamo—a renowned brain surgeon who later went mad in his relentless search for a cure—performed multiple brain enhancement procedures on Ivan. These enhancements allowed Ivan's mental capacity to far exceed that of a normal human adult. Gamo did this against the wishes of Ivan's mother, Erika, whom he even kills in the manga narrative. Ivan subsequently came under the custody of Black Ghost, an organization that named him the first member of their 00-Cyborg program. The enhancements to Ivan's brain grant him several psychic abilities, including telepathy, telekinesis, and extra-sensory perception. However, because he is still a baby, his body struggles to manage these powers, sometimes causing him to fall asleep at inopportune moments. He was among the 00 Cyborgs who were placed in cryogenic freeze until more advanced technology and medical procedures could be developed. Additionally, Ivan acts as a leader to all the 00 Cyborgs.
