great britain

Great Britain, whose true identity remains a mystery, originated from the United Kingdom. He was once a renowned and gifted stage actor with an extensive knowledge of famous productions. In the 2001 TV series, Great Britain had a romantic relationship with an actress named Sophie, with whom he worked. As his fame grew, he gradually distanced himself from their past love. Financial troubles began to pile up, and over time, the once-great performer found himself reduced to a penniless nobody, willing to do anything for a drink or a smoke. The Black Ghost agents, noticing his dire situation, easily lured Great Britain into their vehicle with the promise of an alcoholic beverage. After escaping with the other cyborgs, Great Britain returned to the United Kingdom and discovered that his ex-girlfriend had a daughter named Rosa. Suspecting she might be his child, Great Britain tried to reach out to her but was rejected and scorned for his past actions (Rosa believed he had betrayed Sophie). Only at the end did he redeem himself when he replaced a main actor in Rosa's theatrical play and managed to befriend her. 007 has the remarkable ability to reshape his cellular structure at will, allowing him to transform into any object, creature, or person he desires (at one point in the 2001 series, he even grows to enormous proportions). With his exceptional acting skills, he can also blend in with the enemy to execute sneaky maneuvers and attacks. Despite being the oldest of the second-generation cyborgs, in his late 40s when kidnapped, 007 is the most lighthearted and amiable among them. Adding to his comic relief role, there is a recurring gag where Great Britain often takes the form of a precocious, almost super deformed, child; he would act like a spoiled child fearing for his own life amidst combat situations with his fellow Cyborgs. In the 1960s anime versions, he is portrayed as a child rather than an adult, an attempt by producers to appeal to a younger audience. Although Ishinomori initially disapproved of this portrayal, he later mirrored it temporarily in the manga version by having Gilmore alter 007's body to make the child form his standard appearance. His nationality combined with his number is an obvious reference to Ian Fleming's famous British spy character, James Bond.
