Geodude is a brownish-gray rock Pokémon. It features bulging, rocky eyebrows, trapezoidal eyes with brown pupils, and a wide mouth. Its arms are muscular and end in five-fingered hands. Geodude uses its strong arms to climb steep mountain paths steadily. Due to its appearance, Rhyperior sometimes mistake it for real rocks and launch it using their powerful hands.
Geodude takes pride in its sturdy body and often competes with others of its kind by bashing against them to prove whose body is harder. It even compares itself with other species like Roggenrola and Carbink. Over time, its body becomes more chipped and worn. Older Geodude become smooth and round, developing a calm demeanor, but their spirit remains tough. Geodude can usually be found on mountain trails and fields; a scholar once counted about 100 of them on just one route. It tends to sit still, leading many to mistake it for a regular rock. When stepped on, it might swing its arms in anger. When deeply asleep, Geodude partially buries itself in the ground and won't wake up even if stepped on. In the morning, it rolls downhill in search of food.
Forms
Geodude has a regional form known as Alolan Geodude. In the Alola region, Geodude is made from magnetic rock with a silvery appearance. Certain areas of its body are particularly magnetic, attracting iron sand that forms black eyebrows and short black hair-like strands. Its fingers are fused, leaving only the thumb and index finger free. Stepping on an Alolan Geodude results in an electrical shock and possibly an angry headbutt. Like regular Geodude, it competes by bashing its body against others. The iron sand sticks to the one with stronger magnetism. Alolan Golem will fire these Geodude from its back if no real rocks are available.
Evolution
Geodude evolves into Graveler, which then evolves into Golem. The Alolan variant is a dual-type Rock/Electric form. It evolves into Alolan Graveler, which further evolves into Alolan Golem.
