Fire Dragon and foster father of Natsu Dragneel
Igneel has been depicted as a caring parental figure to Natsu, though his decision to leave Natsu alone raises questions about this. Despite abandoning him physically, Igneel is shown to be fiercely protective of Natsu, watching over him from a distance.
Contrary to his nurturing side, Igneel can also display ferocity when needed. He exhibits some arrogance, referring to himself as "the one and only Igneel" during Grandeeney's visit.
According to Grandeeney, similar to Natsu, Igneel tends to take things to extremes.
He taught Natsu how to write, speak, and use the fire-based Magic known as "Dragon Slayer Magic," an ancient form of Magic that endows the user with dragon-like traits. For reasons yet unknown, Igneel vanished without a word to Natsu on July 7th of X777 (along with other dragons like Grandeeney and Metalicana, Wendy Marvell’s and Gajeel Redfox’s foster dragon parents, respectively), leaving Natsu to fend for himself. Natsu's dream is to reunite with Igneel, and he tirelessly searches for clues about his whereabouts.
