Oswald is a one-day character who appeared in Clefairy Tales and also in The Electric Tale of Pikachu. Oswald is an aficionado of space living in a small Kanto town, although the technology he acquired from comic books didn't function as intended. When the townsfolk were baffled by several Clefairy stealing their belongings, Oswald suggested that these Pokémon were extraterrestrials using the items to construct a spaceship. Only Ash and his companions believed his theory.

Together with Jigglypuff, Oswald and the group embarked on a quest to find the Fairy Pokémon. They discovered that the Clefairy were indeed building a spaceship with the pilfered goods. As the spacecraft was about to launch, Ash and his friends escaped, but Oswald chose to remain with the Clefairy, eager to learn more about them as aliens.

Although the Clefairy and their UFO reappeared in Wish Upon a Star Shape, Oswald was not physically present and only shown in a flashback.
