gyokuyo

Gyokuyo serves as Youko's personal handmaiden during her reign as the monarch of Kei. Holding a high rank among the palace staff, she is entrusted with overseeing Youko's domestic well-being and has dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving the kingdom. Despite appearing to be a woman of middle age, Gyokuyo's true age remains a mystery, suggesting she might be much older than she looks.

Before becoming Youko's personal maid, Gyokuyo worked in the Ministry of Spring, where she played a role in managing the kingdom's education system. However, she was removed from this position towards the end of Jokaku's reign when the late ruler expelled all women from Kei. Although Youko believes it would be beneficial for Gyokuyo to rejoin the administration, Gyokuyo expresses contentment in her current role as Youko's maid.
