Grammi, a former servant of Layla Heartfilia and the mother of Brandish μ, held a significant role in the story.
After Layla retired from her life as a Celestial Spirit Mage, she entrusted Grammi with Aquarius's gate key. Grammi cherished this key immensely, polishing it daily until it gleamed without fail. With the key now in her possession, Grammi traveled to the continent of Alakitasia, effectively making herself unreachable for Layla to retrieve the key when needed to open the Eclipse Gate, an endeavor tied to Layla's ancient clan from 400 years ago. Unable to locate Grammi, Layla was forced to use her own life force as a substitute for Aquarius’s key, leading to her contracting Magic deficiency disease. It took seven days for this news to reach Grammi, who was then returning to Ishgar. Feeling deeply responsible for Layla's condition, Grammi returned Aquarius's key, believing she no longer deserved to keep it.
On her way home, Grammi encountered Zoldeo, who stealthily approached her and stabbed her with a knife. Blaming Grammi for Layla's illness, which Grammi also felt guilty about, she made one final request of Zoldeo: not to harm her daughter, Brandish, for her own mistakes. Sadly, Grammi succumbed to the severe injuries inflicted upon her.
