During the One Year War, Gadem is dispatched by Dozle Zabi to resupply Char Aznable's Musai after a failed reconnaissance mission at Side 7. The two ships meet at Luna II.
However, they are detected by the crew of the White Base. Amuro Ray in the RX-78-2 Gundam and Ryu Jose in the FF-X7 Core Fighter are sent to destroy the Musai. They maneuver their units so that the sun is behind them, making the Gundam and the Core Fighter difficult to spot.
While the Musai and Char fend off the attacks, Gadem tries to unload as many supplies as possible before his ship is destroyed. He manages to escape in his MS-05 Zaku I. Despite Char's warnings, Gadem attempts to destroy the Gundam without weapons to avenge his honor, but the Gundam ultimately destroys his Zaku I.
