Frieza is a fictional supervillain from the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. He appears in Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT, as well as in the TV special Bardock: The Father of Goku, several Dragon Ball Z movies, and Dragon Ball GT. Frieza is one of the most formidable villains in the Dragon Ball universe. In the comedic series Neko Majin Z, it is revealed that he has a son named Kuriza. Introduced as a powerful galactic overlord seeking immortality and conquest, Frieza rules an empire said to control over seventy-nine planets. He creates armies from conquered planets, with the Saiyans being his most utilized race. Frieza initially dismissed the legend of the Super Saiyan as mere myth, but after witnessing the rapid evolution of Saiyan potential, he feared the legend might come true and decided to destroy the Saiyan race. His quest for power eventually leads him into conflict with the heroes when he tries to obtain the wish-granting Dragon Balls on Planet Namek. Frieza's fears became reality when he was defeated by Goku, who had transformed into a Super Saiyan. Though he survived this encounter, Frieza was left with multiple metal prosthetics. Accompanied by his father to Earth, Frieza fails to exact revenge and is swiftly killed by Trunks, a half-Saiyan time traveler. A blood sample taken before his death later becomes instrumental in creating Cell, a genetically engineered warrior designed to be perfect. Following his death, Frieza was imprisoned in Hell, where he remained trapped inside a cocoon in his Mecha Frieza form. Over 14 years later, his elite soldiers Sorbet and Tagoma collect the Dragon Balls and resurrect him, reviving him as Mecha Frieza in pieces. They reconstruct his body using a healing chamber, allowing him to revert to his first form. Believing four months of intense training will grant him enough power to obliterate the Saiyans, Frieza begins his rigorous regimen. Toei Animation continued to feature Frieza in their anime adaptations, including brief cameo appearances during the Buu Saga, animated features, and Dragon Ball GT. In the manga, Frieza is referenced as a benchmark for the strength of the Kaioshin, the supreme lords of the Dragon Ball universe, each capable of defeating Frieza in a single blow.
