Elfman is an 18-year-old mage known for his exceptional physical strength within the Fairy Tail guild. He possesses the unique ability called "Take Over," enabling him to absorb and utilize the powers of defeated monsters through his right arm, earning him the moniker "Beast Arm Elfman." His guild emblem is located on his neck.
Despite his top-tier skills within Fairy Tail, a past incident has left him unable to perform full-body transformations with Take Over. This stems from a critical error during one such transformation, which caused him to lose control. In this crisis, his younger sister Lisana, a former Fairy Tail member, sacrificed herself to break his concentration and restore his sanity. Consequently, any attempt at full-body Take Over now triggers vivid flashbacks of Lisana, disrupting his focus and causing the spell to fail. This tragedy has emotionally scarred Elfman deeply.
During Phantom Lord's assault on Fairy Tail, when Mirajane was taken hostage under the guise of Lucy, Elfman found renewed determination. Driven by his vow never to witness his sister's tears again, he managed to regain his full-body Take Over ability, using it to defeat Sol, a member of the Elemental 4.
Both Elfman and his sister Mirajane were profoundly affected by Lisana's death, locking Elfman's heart in emotional turmoil. His character is marked by an enthusiastic obsession with masculinity, frequently delivering impassioned, sometimes nonsensical, speeches about what it means to be and act like a man.
