Doranbalt is a member of the Magic Council and leads a division of the Rune Knights.

In X784, he utilized his Memory Control ability to deceive the members of Fairy Tail into believing he was their fellow guildmate named Mest Gryder during their S-Class Promotion Trial.

Following the events of the Tartaros arc, Makarov revealed to Doranbalt that he had always been a member of the Fairy Tail guild. To infiltrate the Magic Council more easily, he had erased his own memories. He also regained his guild insignia.
