He was Father Cornello's right-hand man and a devoted follower of his religion. Shortly after Ed and Al arrived in Lior, Cornello informed Cray that Ed was actually a State Alchemist, likely there for reconnaissance. Consequently, Cornello ordered Cray to eliminate the Elrics in the name of their god, but he failed when a shot aimed at Alphonse's head only revealed his hollow armor. During the siege of Lior, Cray was devoured by Gluttony when he searched for Cornello and instead found the Homunculi.

Cray's skeleton can be seen in Gluttony's stomach near the end of chapter 50.
