He is the most impulsive and brutal among them, often killing his enemies mercilessly and even laughing maniacally during these acts. Along with his comrades, he infiltrates the PLANT colony Armory One to steal one of the new Gundam-type mobile suits, the ZGMF-X31S Abyss. Using this heavily armed suit, he causes significant damage within the colony, resulting in numerous ZAFT soldier casualties. Auel participates in two additional space battles, one in the debris belt and another near the remnants of the destroyed PLANT colony Junius Seven. Following the start of the Second Bloody Valentine War, Auel and the rest of Phantom Pain head to Earth, engaging in several skirmishes against the ZAFT ship Minerva. Despite their efforts, they achieve limited success, though Auel manages to sink a Vosgulov-class submarine aiding the Minerva. While investigating the ZAFT-controlled city Diokia, Auel and his comrades encounter Shinn Asuka and Athrun Zala without recognizing each other. When ZAFT uncovers a laboratory in Lodonia, Auel recalls that his mother was stationed there, causing him severe distress. His psychological conditioning renders him helpless upon hearing his blockword, "mother," leading to a mental breakdown. During a confrontation with the Minerva at the Dardanelles, Auel's Abyss is damaged by the ZGMF-X10A Freedom but is quickly repaired. After Stella is captured and taken aboard the Minerva, Auel and Sting have their memories of her erased. However, Auel senses something missing, indicating incomplete amnesia. In the Battle of Crete, his suit is destroyed by Shinn Asuka, who uses the beam javelin of his ZGMF-X56S/γ Blast Impulse to fatally strike the Abyss. The suit crashes into the sea and explodes, with Auel's helmet filling with blood-mixed water before his death. In the Gundam SEED Destiny: The Edge manga, Auel's final moments are expanded upon.
