A classmate at Yukiteru's school, Aru Akise aspires to become the world's greatest detective one day. This student sleuth manages to solve the mystery behind a series of dog murders even before the police can.
Due to his sharp intellect and exceptional deduction skills, he is often mistaken for being a Future Diary holder. His extraordinary intelligence becomes evident through various story arcs where only Akise can match wits with Yuno's cunning and deceitful mind. He also displays considerable physical abilities, outmaneuvering and overpowering a deranged Yuno in two confrontations.
At first, his reasons for getting involved with Yukiteru and the Future Diary saga are unclear. However, as he investigates the Diary Holders alongside Masumi and Minene and reveals his role in Nishijima's plan to eliminate the Eleventh, Akise holds a meeting at his house. There, he expresses his desire for Yukiteru to ascend to godhood while voicing deep mistrust towards the Second, Yuno.
In chapter 17 of Mirai Nikki, Akise privately confesses to Yuno that his feelings for Yukiteru extend beyond friendship. This revelation momentarily unsettles Yuno when Akise deliberately places his arm around Yukiteru’s waist to provoke her. This could explain why Yuno becomes anxious and irritated whenever Akise appears near Yukiteru.
By chapter 48, Akise admits to Deus that he loves Yukiteru, but Deus discloses that these feelings were implanted by him. Desperate to prove his autonomy from Deus' influence, Akise claims a Future Diary and returns, attempting to persuade Yukiteru that Yuno is manipulating him.
Yuno tries to kill Akise, but his diary's foresight enables him to predict and counter her actions.
Mirai Nikki Paradox:
He is the protagonist in a spin-off series (Mirai Nikki Paradox), where Murumuru accidentally erases Yuno from existence, leaving Yukiteru vulnerable to the Third. To rectify this, Aru collaborates with Murumuru, taking on the roles of the First and Second.
Upon first seeing Yukiteru, Akise's heart races, prompting him to ponder aloud, "Is this love?" which confuses Murumuru. He also declares that his reward for defeating the Third is for Murumuru to save Yukiteru. By the end of the second chapter of "Paradox," Murumuru suspects Akise might be gay due to his peculiar behavior around a recovering Yukiteru; refusing to leave his side because Yukiteru is just too cute, stating how he could eliminate all the diary users to make Yukiteru "God," and so forth.
