Aries is a timid and soft-spoken female who is extremely shy. In the past, she was cruelly treated by Karen, a Celestial Spirit mage, who forced her to do terrible things. For instance, Karen used Aries as a shield because she supposedly had no fighting abilities and made her divert all of Karen's boyfriends instead of simply rejecting them.
Loke arc
Three years before the story begins, Aries belonged to Karen Lilica. During Loke's flashback, it is shown that Karen mistreated Aries severely. She employed Aries to keep her "boyfriends" away. Although Aries tried to protest, she was too scared of Karen. Guildmaster Bob from Blue Pegasus witnessed this and warned Karen to take better care of her spirits. Enraged, Karen accused Aries of snitching and physically assaulted her, though only Aries being shoved to the floor is seen.
Karen threatened to keep Aries in the human world for a week, but before she could act on this threat, Loke intervened by summoning himself to replace Aries (since Karen could only maintain one spirit at a time) and told the Celestial Spirit Mage to break her contracts with both Aries and himself. When Karen refused, Leo threatened to remain in the human world until she agreed, making it impossible for Karen to summon any other Celestial Spirits. Karen continued to refuse, believing he couldn't stay long; however, Leo left with an ultimatum and stayed in a deserted chapel for three months, trying to get Karen to break the contracts. Upon his return, Leo learned that Karen was killed on a mission and that Aries' key had been taken.
Oracion Seis arc
After an exchange in the Spirit World, Aries was summoned to battle alongside Loke and Lucy Heartfilia. Despite neither wanting to fight each other, they chose to do so for their pride, and the battle commenced. However, due to Aries' non-combative nature, she struggled against Loke. As the battle progressed, Angel summoned Caelum and used it to blast through Aries and hit Loke, causing both to return to the Celestial World for healing. After her defeat, Angel was arrested, and her contracts with her spirits were broken. Aries, along with Scorpio and Gemini, sought out Lucy and formed new contracts with her.
Edoras arc
Lucy summoned Aries to prevent Edoras soldiers from capturing her and her friends. Aries then attacked the soldiers using a technique called "Wool Bomb," allowing Lucy and her companions to escape.
