Alcyone is an ice sorceress who trained under Clef and was raised to serve the Pillar. However, she fell in love with the high priest, Zagato, and became his servant for this unreciprocated affection. In the manga, she is killed after failing Zagato twice. In the anime, she survives until near the end of the second series. After Zagato and Esmeraude's deaths, she is captured by the evil witch Debonair, who brainwashes her into servitude. Lantis captures Alcyone in battle, but she has lost her memories. When she regains them, she reveals Debonair's plans for Cephiro and her location, but her former mistress kills her before she can finish.
In the Sega Saturn game, Alcyone appears to die but returns near the end of the game in the latter part of Zagato's palace.
Her name is sometimes misspelled as "Alcione," which appeared in the first run of the English-language manga. Her name originates from the Subaru Alcyone SVX. In the Spanish version of the anime, she is called Alanis.
