Shinji has more or less already found himself before this chapter so there really is no need to go into his psyche at this moment. While it does decrease the overall significance of this chapter, the previous chapters were already enhanced by Shinji's growth as a character.

i like how this is going. more explained than the mindfuck that is EoE imo

These last few chapters have really stepped up a notch.

Shinji finds the new world is not the one he wished for, for it has nothing. There's no sadness, but no happiness as well.

Really liked the last panel where Yui tells Shinji he is the hope of humanity.

Very well done indeed. A more measured approach than EoE, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Very interesting, and makes more sense than EoE. However, I would have actually liked this part to have been longer. I feel like the movie did a better job of going deeper into Shinji's psyche to help him find an answer. Oh well, still really liked this chapter.

I feel bad for the people who read this while it was publishing. There's so much tension between these chapters that just doesn't work if you don't read it all at once

                        It's interesting how Shinji's willing to give humanity another shot because of a wish his mother made to him when he was younger. It'll be interesting to see what kind of humanity he would make.

So? Where will the other chapters lead us?
