Gunnm Chapter 1 Discussion

This series has fantastic artwork. It's only gonna get better from here.

Saw the trailer for the upcoming live action movie, and it reminded me of this, which has been on my plan to read since forever.

It's time to finally read it. Pretty good first chapter.

Aesthetically the manga reminds me of Pluto.

I've had this manga on my list for a long time now and I've finally decided to give a read. Judging by this first chapter, I know I'm really going to enjoy this series. The art is great, I love the whole cyborg/android element, and Alita seems like she'll be a great character.

This chapter was a good start and it ended with a nice twist. Ido finds Alita in the scrapyard and reactivates her. He gives her the name Alita since she has lost her memories and doesn't know her name. He begins to rebuild her slowly and at the same time, the story introduces the plot point of a serial killer going around killing women. The chapter alludes to Ido being the killer, which made Alita suspicious, so she follows him and assumes it's him when he's about to attack a woman, but it's revealed that the woman was the killer and Ido is a  hunter warrior claiming her bounty.

@Daliesk If this was too fast for your idea of a good pacing, you will have to wait until the motorball part (volume 3 or 4) where the action takes so much place it slows everything down. And if it doesn't satisfy you more, then the last hope is when you'll reach the halfway of the second series where it drags things down in a phenomenal way, again for action

(unless you decide to stop with the original series epilogue who is perfectly okay in itself, and at least gives "closure" to Gally rather than expanding her identity quest into a neverending story)

Idk but I like short first chapters - this one especially was well executed. Eager to learn more about Zalem *^*

I too thought that he was killing people to get the body parts, but turns out he's a crime stomping Hunter warrior

nice story..but too fast to enjoy character moments

What a great first chapter that was! The art is great. And I loved that twist at the end.
