Is it worth reading? If you are interested in reading a novel with a MC who has a resolution of "Live quietly without attracting attention" but ultimately fails in a hilarious way, then this is for you 😂What to expect?Positives
- Baek Yu-Seol (the MC) is clever and quite calculative. He doesn't give a fvck about third-rate bullies & claps back whenever a professor tries to diminish him. He is petty and I love it HAHA
- Characters are fleshed-out.
- Supporting characters are given enough spotlight about their backgrounds, inner turmoils, struggles, enlightenments, character developments, and battles.
- MC doesn't remember majority of the storyline in the game cause he always skipped when he was playing.
- Author doesn't shy away from killing characters in battles which I consider a positive cause it's realistic.
- Although this story has a harem, the girls in the harem are not damsels in distress. They are all powerful and can stand up on their own as long as they put their minds to it. Each has their own conviction. They don't fall in love with the MC at first sight nor they are heads over heels for him. Their feelings towards the MC develop naturally.
- Misunderstandings are surprisingly not frustrating cause they're plausible if you think of them from the characters' perspectives. Honestly as a reader, I find them to be quite funny even. Edna has already created a whole ass plot; she can be a writer herself 😂 Besides, they even witnessed "evidence" and I think that evidence has a chance of actually being real.
- Mysteries can be quite cliché but it's still fun to form theories cause there are too many possibilities of the MC's origins and how stuff happened.
- This novel also delves into magic theories and not solely focuses on battles. Although it can fry your brain if you only have 1 brain cell when reading.
- Narration is more on tell than show.
- The plot armor is obvious in this novel.
- Massive info dumps especially when it comes to explaining the setting of the Aether world, skills and traits of characters, info about the enemies, and future events.
- There are 2 characters whose names have a mixture of Korean and Western (cause there's nobility in the story), which sounds so weird. For ex: Hong Bi-Yeon Adolevit. Wtf is that?? Like bruh, decide whether to use Korean or Western names. Don't mix them.
- Since this has a harem, author focused more on the MC's relationships with the girls so there are only few screen times for MC's relationship with the guys, which I find disappointing cause I really want to read more of Yu-Seol & Mayuseong's interactions.
- Spoiler
This novel has a rushed and open ending based on the spoilers I read.
