Sorry to say but I think he is dead, which is why it showed everyone getting this shocking feeling, I think.

I am happy to see that it's an actual war ,not just 6 masters and two disciples whoopin everyones ass. I was quite shocked when he took such a fatal wound, which im pretty sure pierced the left lung and grazed the heart based off the straight body image. On top of that he just fell... Didn't stagger at all just hit the ground. With this though only 1 of three paths will be choosen and that is masters will come to the rescue, masters won't and kenichi will rage slaughter, or aggard will leave with a defeated disciple and masters will come at the last second and apachi will die. (36% chance of a mix of the mentioned). Though it's also possible aggard will go slaughter mode or fall over dead himself. He took quite a headshot...

I have the impression Agaard actually lost....

I totally agree with you, and since this is a shonen, HSD Apachai won't die. At best he will probably be placed in coma for 3 chapters or so.
