Tragic. Powerful. Complex.

This is a tale about a regressor.

Well, not just any regressor.

He goes by an alias, "Undertaker".

And this is the tale of his accomplishments, struggles, failures, the people surrounding him, so on, and so forth.

The author, known for another highly acclaimed novel on this site, has flourished his talent in writing the regression trope to present you a refreshing experience unlike any other.

The world we're introduced to is one built by its background, its characters. There are many questions to be answered, and likewise, many addendums from our resident regressor, Undertaker.

Just when you think that closure on one unforgettable arc wouldn't bring the spotlight on others afterward, you'd be sorely mistaken. This novel is interwoven throughout the many lives the protagonist has endured.

There is one takeaway from this novel, which I'd like to quote as:

"The journey left behind through one's progress in their path, is just as important as reaching the destination."

Even if said journey is unknown, despairing, heart-wrenching, we as the audience are present to witness it all.

This may not be for everyone. After all, it takes a while to get off its footing, a lot is shrouded in mystery, a lot of plot points are still being developed slowly even after multiple chapters have passed.

However.

If you are a fan of slow burn and impactful pay-off, of branching storylines, and of an overarching plot built by many, many beginnings and ends, you've come to the right story.

I highly recommend this. Easily close to a 5/5 by NovelUpdates standards.

Love the story.  Hope it doesn't drag on and ends well. A thousand chapters is enough.

This book is so far the most realistic I ever read. Plus it’s not very long and the conflicts are just enough, not too much superficial.  I wish to read more books just like this one.  And I also love the faith and principles that I can read between the lines.
