Hmm... I'm not sure what to feel about this. FL was a high-ranking noble born without an ability, and there was some sort of revolution that led to the fall of the nobility and her being thrown into prison (after being betrayed by her fiance). There, she shares a cell with the two highest-ranking prisoners and we are essentially treated to her being bullied/looked down on by the other inmates and forced to do manual labor (FL has a weak disposition and keeps throwing up blood/fainting) but, and here is the important part: these acts are actually not as frustrating to read as they sound because FL has a way with words (to weasel out of situations) and the guards are for the most part errr fair? They are super strict, they don't really care whether FL lives or dies but one of the guards instructs her on how to do the manual labor properly so she doesn't get more injured and they don't whip her (at least not yet so far).So this novel isn't about FL being a pushover and getting trampled on by everyone for a long time since even though the prison conditions are very harsh, the treatment of her (as of chapter 20) is still rather tolerable. I mean no one has outright beaten her up (yet??). The worst I've seen is someone pouring a bucket of dirty water over her. I kept reading because I was curious to see how FL would escape the prison andSpoiler
in the latest chapter I'm at right now, FL gets hit by some rocks from the sky (or sth) and a system window pops up!!! But I'm not sure what it'll do yet.
[collapse]The ML candidates are the strongest prisoners (ranked one and two; FL is ranked forty-nine, the lowest, lol) and they're a little eccentric (they had a whole serious talk about underwear that cracked me up). I haven't read enough to decide if I'm rooting for any of them yet though...Anyway I think this is a story that you should read to find out if it's worth reading. I still don't really know myself (hence the lack of rating). I suppose the fact that I keep pressing the "next" button means I'm kind of invested in the... plot (but then again there's not much of it, it's just FL slaving away in a prison) ? Even if I'm not 100% sold on the characters yet.
